What Makes YOU Feel Powerful?

I feel most powerful when I'm taking care of my mind and body and staying true to myself. Confidence is power.

What advice would you give to your 15 year old self?

You fit in more than you think. Appreciate the people who love you and look out for yourself.

High heels or ballet flats?

Boots, baby.

What cheers you up?

My family, friends and videos of cute baby animals.

A book you have read more than 3 times.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar. As a part-time preschool teacher, I read with a lot of 3 year olds.

Favorite way to break a sweat.

Yoga and a bike ride.

Your go-to healthy snack.

Avocado pop.

Your favorite comfort food.

Spicy peanut noodles.

Your favorite city, and quick tips for traveling to that city.

I love to travel, but Chicago is my favorite city. Hands down. Explore the neighborhoods. Take the CTA. If you ride a bike (do!), wear a helmet.

What is the first thing you do when you get home from a trip?

Hug my cat with a pink nose, Simone de Beauvoir. She's usually very angry I was gone.

Who are your favorite women heroes?

I'm most inspired by the women around me- my peers who are doing great important work and working their butts off. There are some seriously strong voices in the Chicago artist community. Jane Beachy (co-creator of the wildly important Salonathon) and Shannon Matesky (Queer Abstract) have been the most influential and inspiring for me personally.

A piece of interesting news you read recently.

National Geographic recently reported that a device created by a team of scientists in Chicago simulating a female reproductive system, had it's first period! The device called EVATAR is designed to help scientists better understand how medicines and toxins affect women differently from men.

Favorite perfume.
